20222023 Yerseke tourist info
Project description:
Yerseke has been a popular tourism destination within Zeeland for a while now. The strengths of seafood and nature are combined with the place being a peaceful and small village. The place itself is very attractive for an older audience. However, the client want to attract a younger audience since Yerseke has a lot to offer and they would like to have a more versatile audience visiting and staying at Yrseke. This project aims to find out in what ways this younger audience could be reached in a sustainable way and what resources of Yerseke are best used with that goal in mind.
Outcomes:
To make Yerseke more appealing to a younger generation, its current image of peacefulness and good food doesn't need major changes but can be adapted slightly. The Yerseke Moer is too quiet for many young adults but could be made more engaging for families by adding interactive features like educational boards or a treasure hunt, which would keep children entertained and allow parents to relax.
Combining food tourism with cultural elements could boost its appeal. Adding historical and cultural insights to food tours would enrich the visitor experience. Offering cooking sessions or demonstrations could also attract those interested in learning about local cuisine, creating an engaging and interactive experience.
Food tourism could also be paired with activities like walking or biking tours, allowing visitors to explore Yerseke Moer while enjoying the outdoors. Reviving events like the annual mussel festival, or hosting new festivals and markets focused on food culture, could attract visitors during off-peak seasons and provide unique experiences.
