Met dit project zetten we eerste stappen in de ontwikkeling van een digital twin voor het waterbeheer. +
Al jaren probeert DOW in Terneuzen meer zelfvoorzienend te worden op het gebied van zoet water. Twee wetlands van elke 350 vierkante meter brengen dit streven een stap dichterbij. Voordat gezuiverd afvalwater kan voldoen aan de hoge eisen van industriewater wordt het onder meer behandeld door twee natuurlijke zuiveringen. De onderzoeksgroep Water Technology van HZ University of Applied Sciences is bij het onderzoek betrokken. +
In dit TKI Deltatechnologie project worden wetlands als voorzuivering voor milde ontzilting gebruikt om daarmee industriewater te produceren. Dit project is een samenwerking tussen HZ, Dow Benelux, Evides Industriewater en waterschap Scheldestromen. +
CLOSED FOR APPLICATIONS - Water purification of wastewater streams in the food industry and horticulture (and down stream processing) ask continuously for new (technological) solutions. These solutions are not only about the prevention of waste (realization of 0-emission), but are also about the production of valuable resources from wastewater. The intention of the TKI program ‘Valorisatie Reststromen’ is to develop products and applications with technology suppliers on one side and end-users on the other side. The main question to that is: How can residues selectively be removed from wastewater and which value can be given to these retained resources and the cleaned water?
Partners in this project include; Coroos, Lamb Weston Meijer, Evides, VAM Watertech and HZ. When possible, pilot experiments will be done on the spot.
The research topics within this project include:
1. Detection (and removal) of micro-organisms in recirculation water of food industry and removal of micro-pollutants, mainly plant protection products. (Level: Minor / Internship)
2. Reuse of brine from RO concentrate, with an initial focus on removal of micro-pollutants. (Level: Minor / Internship)
3. Optimizing phosphate recovery from water used in food processing. (Level: Minor / Internship / Graduation)

The goal of this project is to investigate how a combination of constructed wetlands as a pre-treatment process and a desalination treatment train can help to remove micro-pollutants, nutrients and salinity. +

Temporal variation in mussel performance- role of aggregation and mussel density on mussel patch scale +
Competition inhibits mussel growth and promotes mussel losses. Simultaneously mussels need each other for protection, a facilitation effect that might be more beneficial at higher densities. We expect that food levels play an important role in the relation between competition and facilitation. This is tested in a field experiment where the effect of mussel density and fluctuations in food levels, are related to mussel aggregation and performance. +

Worn jeans are given a second life of high quality at Blue Loop Originals. Since the summer of 2016 you can camp in a two-person tent made of 50% reused jeans. +

Op woensdag 28 november vond de jaarlijkse Toeristische Ontmoetingsdag plaats in Theater de Mythe in Goes. Dit jaar stond deze dag in het teken van ‘Toeristisch ondernemen in Zeeland’. Voor ons een geslaagde dag met veel bezoekers waarop we graag met u terugblikken. +
