When the project started the business of depoldering was quite unusual. There was little to no information on restoring salt marshes, thus the impact of the transition from fresh water to salt water and introduction of sedimentation and erosion is still unknown. The project Perkpolder was developed to fill in this gap of knowledge and get more experience on this topic. Perkpolder focusses on the question whether or not the new nature area adds value to the tidal environment in the Western Scheldt. Research type: field research, desk analysis, lab research
