Aaron Baxa
Project coordinator - Water
Hi! I'm Aaron, from the United States. I joined the Green Office in September 2023 because I've been concerned about the direction the world leans in regards to climate and sustainability. I was also looking to meet people as a new student in The Netherlands- and what surprised me the most is that people are looking to meet me! Part of it is that I was raised in an environmentally conscious way, but regardless people in the Green-Office circles are super friendly and always willing to chat. Among GO activities, I especially like gardening and growing my own food, which (official secret!) makes it taste 3x better.
Bálint Török
Social media editor
Hey, I’m Bálint, a third-year Chemistry student with a strong interest in sustainability. Excited to see how we can make meaningful environmental changes together, I joined Green Office at the start of this academic year. As one of the social media editors, I aim to increase Green Office’s visibility, inspiring students and staff to see the power of small, individual actions and collective efforts. Through my role, I hope to build awareness around sustainability initiatives and highlight the impact we can all have in creating a greener campus.

Ingrid de Vries
Coordinator HZ Green Office
Hi, I am Ingrid and I am supporting the Green Office as a coordinator and project leader. As a teacher and mother of two beautiful daughters, I have dedicated my life to making our world a more green and fair place. My husband and I renovated our house with biobased and recycled materials, and it runs on 100% renewable energy. I like being in nature, gardening, cycling and good food. At the Green Office, our motto is having Fun whilst doing Good! Whilst doing cleanups, networking, discovering plants or creatures in our gardens, I get to connect with students, helping them with developing and discovering talents. It is an immense joy to help them walk the talk in sustainability!
Jan Flechner
Chair
Hej, my name is Jan, I’m 29 years old and I’ve been with the Green Office for four and a half years now. The thing that initially made me join Green Office were COVID restrictions, yet it turned out perfect for me, because it was a local, small group of students that all wanted and still want to give our planet a better future. I joined the Green Office for my third-year internship, but because it became my passion project, I actually found a way to stay. The longer I stayed, the more I realised how interconnected everything is, which is when I started becoming a bit of a climate activist. To the point that I will be leading the Drinkable Rivers Walk along the North shore of the Scheldt from Antwerp to Vlissingen in May 2025!
Merel van de Woestijne
Website contributor
Hi, my name is Merel! I am 22 years old and I am a 3rd year student in Pedagogy. For the last couple of years, I joined in with a few HZ Green activities and different small initiatives all over in Middelburg, including upcycling courses at Kilosale Zeeland. This inspired me to join more sustainable activities locally, now mostly with Green Office. I firmly believe that a greater world starts nearby. Seeing what beauty can be found, created and managed, will make an environment that doesn't value nature at all, less normal. I have been positively surprised by the range of students that attend each week, and I am glad to see the group having eyes for our individual talents to contribute in ways that come natural to us.
Nadea Tashti
Social media creator
Hi everyone! My name is Nadea. This year, I joined the Green Office team as the social media creator, bringing along my passion for sustainability as a third-year chemistry student. My goal is to inspire the university community to live greener and get involved in meaningful environmental projects, and make it known how they can! On social media, I post updates on our latest initiatives for making this positive impact. By highlighting our community’s achievements and ideas, my hope is to create a friendly, engaging space where everyone can learn about sustainability through inspiring meaningful changes in student life and beyond.
Rosheena Hassell
Member of Green Office
Hello, my name is Rosheena and I am a 3rd year student in the Chemistry programme, specialising in Applied Chemistry. I joined HZ Green Office because I wanted to partake in the cleanups, as I have taken part in beach cleanups back in my home island. However, when I started the meetings, I discovered that here I could learn more about gardening, which came unexpectedly and turned into a great passion of mine! Although right now I am just a general member of the Green Office, I try my best to partake in any gardening activity and help make Zeeland a more sustainable and greener place. And who knows what my future at Green Office will bring!
