Waste separation is highly promoted at HZ ,and we encourage our students and employees to follow the recycling procedures of Vlissingen and Middelburg. The waste management separation team strives to promotes awareness on our current initiatives to all students and employees of HZ to reduce the amount of wastage that is produced.

From 2017, The HZ Green Office has begun implementing a waste separation management system on the APV student housing in Vlissingen. The initiative was part of the 4th year course Sustainable Business. The initiative was followed up by another group of students, and it was eventually adopted by the HZ Green Office. The initiative is supported by the municipality of Vlissingen; the waste separation at the student campus helps the municipality to reach their objective to reduce the amount of waste produced from 400kg per person to 100 kilograms per person, as is demanded by European Legislation.

The linkage between the waste management activities and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) that will transform our world:
11sdg.jpg 11. Sustainable Cities and Communities- Make cities and human settlements safe, resilient, and sustainable.

15sdg.jpg 15. Life on Land -Protect, restore, and promote sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems, sustainably manage forests, combat desertification, and halt and reverse land degradation and halt biodiversity loss.

17.jpg 17. Partnerships to achieve the Goals- Strengthen the means of implementation and revitalize the global partnership for sustainable development.

Exclamation mark.pngWe are currently looking for student ambassadors that would like to raise awareness about the importance of waste separation at the HZ campus in Vlissingen and APV student housing in Vlissingen. Please free to contact us if you are interested of just want to share your ideas on how the waste separation implementations can be improved.
