Project description:

Scooters are popular in the Netherlands due to their affordability and lower emissions compared to cars, yet electric scooters are rarely seen in Zeeland. This project aims to understand the lack of interest in e-scooters, explore collaboration opportunities with small businesses, and identify ways to improve e-scooter mobility in the region of Zeeland. Research on increasing e-scooter adoption, motivations for switching from petrol to electric, purchasing behavior, and business partnerships are all taken into account.

Outcomes:

Electric mobility is still limited in Zeeland due to small, dispersed population centers. Key barriers include a lack of charging stations, limited government incentives, and low awareness of e-scooter benefits. To promote adoption, improving infrastructure, providing financial incentives, and increasing public awareness are essential.

Moreover, most people search for electric scooters online to compare options but prefer to buy them in physical stores to test them before making a purchase. While B2B partnerships were not fully explored, potential interest was found among businesses that handle deliveries or require frequent employee travel within a specific area. Direct outreach is the most effective way to engage these companies.

Although electric mobility is not yet widespread in Zeeland, it is growing.
