Key results are synthesized into a framework of techniques that can be used to select the best techniques for a certain project, fact sheets about the techniques (integrated in the framework) and underlying literature. An Excel-based & Visio-visualized framework was developed in a way that new techniques or variables can be added afterwards to provide a sustainable application beyond this project.

The partnership of HZ University of Applied Sciences (HZ), Rijkswaterstaat, the Province of Zeeland and knowledge institute NIOZ investigated if monitoring nature conservation projects can be more efficient using new measurement techniques that collect more or different types of data.

The professional parties want these innovations, so that data can be collected:

• at lower costs;

• being less labor intensive;

• over larger areas;

• with better temporal resolutions.

Getting at the same time a more effective monitoring and, most importantly, a better system understanding. These monitoring activities also offer the opportunity to adjust system designs and / or timely interventions for coastal managers.
