Each year, the Province of West-Flanders offers both private individuals and professionals the opportunity to participate in a joint group purchase for green energy (electricity & gas). | |||
This is how it works: | |||
# Register | |||
You can register free of charge and without obligation until a certain date (eg. 29 March 2021). Have your annual statement or final invoice at hand and fill in your details in a few minutes. | |||
2. Auction | |||
A couple of weeks before (eg.10 February 2021), an auction is organised. Energy suppliers made their best bid for a 1-year contract for 100% Belgian green electricity and/or gas. | |||
3. Personal offer | |||
By the end of the month of the auction (eg. 26 February 2021), you will receive a personal proposal on which you can see how much you can save. | |||
4. Decide | |||
Until the deadline date a month later (eg. 29 March 2021), you can use your personal proposal to indicate whether you accept the proposal. | |||
5. Start contract | |||
Have you accepted the offer? Then they will make sure the switch goes smoothly. You don't have to do anything. | |||

Group energy purchases have been established in Flanders for years (in several provinces). They are a simple and low-threshold way for consumers to switch to a different supplier. This is something that easily can be organized on a large scale in different regions. | |||
