Teaching different courses related to circular economy at HZ University of Applied Science. Working on the materials and energy transition within the centre of expertise MNEXT. Via the HZ Green Office involved in "greening" our own school, working on food, waste, green outside spaces energy and mobility, in collaboration with students, support staff, teachers and external stakeholders. Involved in different initiatives related to The Scheldt, such as "Samenwerkingsovereenkomst Schone Schelde", Scheldt Youth Parliament, PLONS (Plastic Onderzoek Schelde) en "Rechten van de Scheldes". Involved in "Buitenkans", a MDT project focused on personal development in connection to nature and Boer&Buur met Natuur, working on a more sustainable HZ Catering and food innovations, in connection to the HZ Food Community and the New Waves project. Developing different green spaces around HZ Campus based on permaculture and using biobased materials. Outside HZ, i guide theses at the part-time Executive Master of Science in Corporate Communication (MScCC). Together with my husband we renovated an old bakery in Middelburg into a home, using biobased and recycled materials, and running on 100% renewable energy via a KIM heat system.

-|Profiletext=Hi, I’m Ingrid de Vries and I am the initiator and coordinator of the HZ Green Office. In adition, i am a lecturer and researcher in circular economy and sustainability, running several local and European projects on this topic. I think it’s important that teachers and schools “walk the talk”; set the right example. The HZ Green Office offers a great opportunity to enhance sustainability at our University. We do this by: 1) organizing awareness events aiming to build a green culture2) participating in events of our external local and global partners3) helping the school to take measures to further green our school operationally 4) exploring more innovative solutions through research; our own school as a living lab for sustainability! Many of our projects do not take place in boring classrooms, but outside: in the open air. The HZ Green Office allows us to tackle our global sustainability challenges on a local scale; think global, act local!Basically everyone can team up with the green office: whether you are a student, teacher, supporting staff or an external stakeholder. Join the Green Office and have fun whilst doing good!
