Summary of the project

Camping Kreekebos is located in Zeeland, the Netherlands. With its 53 places for campers, caravans, and tents, the campsite is small. There are also two sustainable and circular accommodations located on camping grounds (click here for best practice). Owners Ina and Peter run their camping with a focus on sustainability. Respect for humans, the environment, and nature are at the center of this. This philosophy includes saving energy and using sustainable energy. Several examples are:

Because a lot of electricity is used on the campsite, they have installed solar panels in order to be sustainable and less dependent on energy suppliers.

A solar water heater supplies the sanitary buildings with hot water. The power of the sun is also used to generate energy. The reception and the accommodations bold have solar panels on their roofs.

In the sanitary areas, all lighting consists of highly energy-efficient LED lighting that is controlled by presence and motion sensors, which prevents unnecessary energy consumption.

Finally, to generating energy, the owners also focus on preventing energy waste. This starts with controlling energy consumption. That is why all accommodations are equipped with thermostats to manage the temperature inside. Besides that, all camping pitches are linked to an energy management system that registers energy consumption.
