The HZ Green Office is dedicated to promoting sustainability and environmental awareness within HZ University of Applied Sciences and the surrounding community. Our goal is to create a greener campus by implementing eco-friendly initiatives, organizing clean-up events, and encouraging sustainable practices. Our mission is to empower students, staff, and the local community to act towards a more sustainable future through education, innovation, and collaboration.

Job Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated and organized Clean-Up Coordinator to lead and manage clean-up activities and ensure the successful execution of environmental and facility clean-up projects. This role involves planning, coordinating volunteers, and overseeing site maintenance to promote a clean, safe, and sustainable environment. Additionally, collaboration between location organizations such as Doe Mee, WijZijnDeStad and Verlos de Zee! is vital in executing successful cleanups in the Zeeland region.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and organize clean-up projects for various sites, including public spaces and facilities
  • Recruit, schedule, and manage volunteers for clean-up activities
  • Develop and execute clean-up schedules, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently
  • Coordinate with local authorities and stakeholders for permits and logistics
  • Maintain inventory of supplies and equipment required for clean-ups
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and provide necessary training
  • Monitor and report progress
  • Promote events and initiatives through the HZ GO’s social media (Instagram and the website) and community outreach
  • Identify opportunities for sustainability practices and improvements

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in project coordination or event planning (preferred)
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage teams of volunteers
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Passion for environmental sustainability and community service
  • Basic knowledge of health and safety regulations related to clean-ups

Additional Requirements (not necessary for your application but would be very beneficial):

  • Ability to lift and carry moderate weights as required for clean-up activities
  • Willingness to work outdoors and adapt to varying weather conditions
  • Flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays as needed
